About Tom Samuelson

Tom has more than three decades of experience in selling, marketing and managing wine brands and is adept at new product introductions, pricing, and distributor management. His background includes planting vineyards and helping with winemaking for Smith Madrone--a boutique Napa Valley winery--in the 70s, and 20 years of sales management for Robert Mondavi Corporation in California, the Pacific Northwest and Canada. As regional manager for the Northwest, he increased both sales and revenue five fold. Among other achievements were Opus One Salesman of the Year, Vichon Salesman of the Year, and the creation of a three-state, four winery marketing and sales program for Chilean wines that was later copied and adopted nationally.

Most recently Tom was the national sales manager for Silver Lake Winery-located in Washington State. There he took them from being a four state regional winery to a national brand. He increased distribution to over twenty-two states and increased sales by forty per cent while doubling revenue. In 2003, Silver Lake became the fasting growing winery in greater Seattle market according to IRI (+58%). Tom left Silver Lake in late 2004 to found Island Wine Group.

Tom is a master of arcane baseball and music trivia, but don't expect to see him at the opera. On the other hand, count on him to grill salmon or lamb to perfection.
